DASCO Achieves Believe in Business Charter Gold Status

DASCO Construction is proud to have achieved Gold status through Wigan Council’s Believe in Business Charter.

While it’s always rewarding to receive any recognition, this achievement feels different.

This isn’t an award judged on a single project, a period of growth or a business submission.

Instead, it is independent recognition that the values we talk about every day are being put into practice.

For us, that makes Gold status particularly meaningful.

What Is the Believe in Business Charter?

The Believe in Business Charter was created by Wigan Council to recognise businesses that demonstrate a genuine commitment to their employees, communities and the local economy.

The framework looks beyond financial performance.

It considers how businesses treat their people, support local communities, invest in skills and contribute to making the borough a better place to live and work.

Achieving Gold status demonstrates a commitment to responsible business practices and long-term impact.

Putting People First

At DASCO, people have always come first.

As the business continues to grow, we remain committed to creating opportunities for local people and building careers rather than simply filling vacancies.

That commitment can be seen through our investment in apprenticeships, training and progression opportunities.

It is reflected in our support for employee wellbeing and our focus on creating a positive working environment where people feel valued and supported.

It is also demonstrated through our commitment to becoming a Living Wage Employer and our membership of the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter.

These are not box-ticking exercises.

They are part of a wider commitment to being the kind of employer people choose to work for.

Supporting Our Communities

The Believe in Business Charter also recognises the role businesses play within their communities.

This is something that has always been important to DASCO.

Whether supporting local charities, investing in grassroots sport, contributing to community projects or creating opportunities for local people, we believe successful businesses have a responsibility to give something back.

As a Wigan-based business, we are proud to invest in the communities where we live and work.

The majority of our workforce comes from the local area and we actively look for opportunities to create positive social value through our projects and partnerships.

The award was presented to Managing Director Scott Rothwell by Councillor David Molyneux MBE.

Speaking after the presentation, Charlotte Rothwell described the achievement as recognition of DASCO’s commitment to responsible business, supporting local communities and creating a positive impact across Wigan.

She also recognised the contribution of the wider team, describing the award as a reflection of the hard work and values shown across the business every day.

Doing the Right Things, Consistently

Achieving Gold status is something we are incredibly proud of.

However, the real value lies in what it represents.

It confirms that our commitment to people, communities and responsible growth is making a difference.

As DASCO continues to expand, maintaining those values remains a priority.

Growth is important.

Success matters.

But how we achieve it matters just as much.

What Happens Next?

Gold status is not a finish line; it comes as encouragement and a nice reminder to keep raising the bar.

We will continue investing in our people, supporting our communities and creating opportunities for the next generation through apprenticeships, training and employment.

Most importantly, we will continue building a business that remains true to its values as it grows.

Scott said,

Success has never just been about turnover. Course growth matters, but numbers only tell part of the story. What really matters is knowing we’re creating jobs, backing local people, and doing some good in the communities around us. “

Happy 16th Birthday, Roxy!

Not every member of the DASCO team wears a hard hat.  Some prefer a blanket, a comfy bed and the occasional treat.  This week, we celebrated a very special birthday as our beloved office dog, Roxy, turned 16.  Roxy has been coming to work with us for almost nine years and has become a familiar face around the office. While

Inspiring the Next Generation of Skilled Tradespeople

The construction industry has a major problem: a lack of skilled tradespeople.  Ask almost any contractor and they’ll tell you the same thing. There is plenty of work available, but finding skilled people to deliver it is becoming increasingly difficult.  At DASCO, we believe part of the solution starts in schools.  Recently, Managing Director Scott Rothwell visited students at St Mary’s RC
