A Night We’ll Never Forget: Bringing Two North West Family Business Awards Home to Wigan

Some awards recognise what you do, others recognise who you are.

The North West Family Business Awards 2025 gave us both.

On a night we will never forget, DASCO was named Construction, Property & Engineering Business of the Year and our Accounts Manager, Charlotte Rothwell, was crowned Employee of the Year.

To bring one award home to Wigan would have been special; to bring home two was something else entirely.

Recognition for the Business We’ve Built

Winning Construction, Property & Engineering Business of the Year was a proud moment for everyone connected to DASCO.

Over the past decade, we’ve grown from a single van into one of the North West’s fastest-growing construction businesses.

However, growth has never been our only measure of success.

We’ve always believed there is a right way to build a business, a way that puts people first.

A way that invests in communities and a way that values relationships just as much as results.

This award recognised the progress we’ve made while staying true to those values.

For a family-run business, that means everything.

Charlotte’s Night

While the business award was a huge achievement, seeing Charlotte recognised as Employee of the Year made the evening even more special.

Construction remains a heavily male-dominated industry.

Therefore, seeing a woman recognised at this level is important.

Not just for DASCO, but for the wider sector.

Charlotte’s contribution to the business goes far beyond her job title.

She has played a key role in helping DASCO navigate rapid growth, increasing compliance requirements and the challenges that come with scaling a business.

Like many people within DASCO, Charlotte has grown alongside the company.

Her award was recognition of the hard work, dedication and leadership she brings every day.

It was also proof that talent matters more than tradition.

Family Business Means More Than Family Members

People often assume family business means relatives working together.

For us, it means something much bigger.

It means loyalty.

It means trust.

It means supporting each other through challenges and celebrating success together.

The North West Family Business Awards recognise businesses that embody those values, which is why this recognition felt so significant.

The awards recognised not only what DASCO has achieved but how we’ve achieved it.

Looking Ahead

Awards are never the destination; they’re moments in time.

What matters most is what happens next.

This recognition gives us confidence that our approach is working.

It’s reinforced our belief that you can grow quickly without losing your culture.

You can be ambitious without losing your values.

And you can build a successful business while continuing to invest in people.

Bringing two awards home to Wigan is a proud moment.

But the real achievement is the team behind them.

And that’s something worth celebrating every day.

To see how those values translate into project delivery, explore our latest case studies and housing projects across the North West.

Happy 16th Birthday, Roxy!

Not every member of the DASCO team wears a hard hat.  Some prefer a blanket, a comfy bed and the occasional treat.  This week, we celebrated a very special birthday as our beloved office dog, Roxy, turned 16.  Roxy has been coming to work with us for almost nine years and has become a familiar face around the office. While

Inspiring the Next Generation of Skilled Tradespeople

The construction industry has a major problem: a lack of skilled tradespeople.  Ask almost any contractor and they’ll tell you the same thing. There is plenty of work available, but finding skilled people to deliver it is becoming increasingly difficult.  At DASCO, we believe part of the solution starts in schools.  Recently, Managing Director Scott Rothwell visited students at St Mary’s RC
