Why We Choose to Build in Wigan — And Always Will

People often ask us why we’ve stayed in Wigan as DASCO has grown.
The simple answer is that we never considered doing anything else.

Wigan is where DASCO started, and it’s where it will always be based.
Not because it’s the easiest option, but because it’s the right one.

This is where our families are, it’s where our team lives and it’s where our values come from.

When you build a business in a place like this, you don’t take from it; you owe something back.

Growing Together, Not Moving Away

As DASCO has grown, so has our responsibility to the town that supported us in the early days.

Today, 84% of our workforce live in the Wigan borough
That isn’t something we shout about for effect; it’s simply how we’ve always operated.

We believe local people should be able to build strong careers without having to leave the area they call home.

That means secure employment, clear progression, and opportunities that last, not short-term fixes.

Many of our team have grown with the business, and some started on the tools.
Others joined through our supply chain.

They’re still here because we’ve grown together.

Keeping Investment Close to Home

Our commitment to Wigan goes much further than employing local people.

Each year, over £12 million of our supplier spend stays within the borough.

That decision strengthens local businesses, supports local jobs, and keeps money circulating where it can make the biggest difference.

Rather than ticking a box we choose to work with people we know, trust, and respect.

Many of whom are building their own family businesses alongside ours.

Supporting the Community We’re Part Of

Being rooted in Wigan means showing up for the community in a real, practical way.

We’re proud Gold Patrons of Wigan Youth Zone, committing £12,000 a year to support young people across the borough. As well as giving financial support, we give time, encouragement, and access to opportunities wherever we can.

We’re also part of Helping Wigan Thrive, a business-led campaign that connects companies with charities and community organisations, offering skills, labour, and practical support rather than one-off donations.

These initiatives matter to us because they reflect the same values we run our business by: fairness, care, and long-term impact.

Why Leaving Was Never on the Table

As DASCO has grown, opportunities to relocate have come up.

But leaving Wigan was never an option; this is the town that shaped us, and it gave us our start.
We believe that if you’re fortunate enough to grow, you should take the place that helped you grow with you.

A Long-Term Commitment

Staying in Wigan is a conscious decision.

We’re proud of what we’ve built here, and even prouder of the people we’ve built it with.

As DASCO continues to grow, one thing will remain constant: we’ll keep investing locally, employing locally, and giving back where it matters most.

Because Wigan isn’t just where we do business, it’s where we belong.

Happy 16th Birthday, Roxy!

Not every member of the DASCO team wears a hard hat.  Some prefer a blanket, a comfy bed and the occasional treat.  This week, we celebrated a very special birthday as our beloved office dog, Roxy, turned 16.  Roxy has been coming to work with us for almost nine years and has become a familiar face around the office. While

Inspiring the Next Generation of Skilled Tradespeople

The construction industry has a major problem: a lack of skilled tradespeople.  Ask almost any contractor and they’ll tell you the same thing. There is plenty of work available, but finding skilled people to deliver it is becoming increasingly difficult.  At DASCO, we believe part of the solution starts in schools.  Recently, Managing Director Scott Rothwell visited students at St Mary’s RC
