DASCO Construction Wins Growth and Large Business of the Year at GMCC Excellence Awards

DASCO Construction has brought home two major titles from the 2026 Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce Excellence Awards, winning both the Growth Award and Large Business of the Year.

For Managing Director Scott Rothwell, the Large Business title was the one he really wanted.

Scott has put DASCO forward for a Large Business award three times, including this category twice, so hearing the company’s name called this time around meant a lot.

Persistence pays off

Scott said:

“I am chuffed to bits.

“We’ve gone for Large Business awards three times now and this particular one twice, so to finally get over the line was a brilliant feeling.

“You put the work in, you tell the story as well as you can. You’re up against some really strong businesses, so you never go into it expecting anything.

“That probably made it even better when they called DASCO up to the stage.”

The win capped off an already successful afternoon for the Ince-based business.

DASCO had earlier picked up the Growth Award for the second time.

For Scott, that recognition reflects the progress DASCO has continued to make.

As the business has grown in size, strengthened its team and taken on increasingly ambitious projects.

He added:

“To win the Growth Award again was a massive achievement for us.

“Growth can mean a lot of things, but for us it has always been about building the business properly, bringing good people in, creating opportunities and making sure the standards don’t drop as we get bigger.

“We’re proud of where DASCO has come from and equally proud of the team that has got us here.”

Success for Wigan

The awards brought together businesses from across all ten Greater Manchester boroughs at Manchester Central.

There was a strong Wigan contingent sitting together on the day.

Tyldesley-based Antony Grace from ASH Integrated Services was named Skills & Talent Champion, while Atherton-based Kane International won Medium Business of the Year.

Launch NW was also represented as a finalist in the Micro Business of the Year category.

Scott said:

“It was a great day for Wigan as a whole.

“We were all sat together and there was a real sense that everyone was pleased for each other.

“Antony thoroughly deserved his award, Kane had a fantastic result and there were some brilliant finalists across every category.

“Nic and Jo didn’t get the result they wanted this time, but I know them well enough to know that’ll just make them come back stronger next year.

“They’ve got plenty to be proud of and reaching the final at that level is an achievement in itself.

“We’re obviously delighted with our own two awards, but it was also good to see so much recognition coming back home with us to Wigan.

“There were some very strong businesses in that room, so everyone who made the final should be proud of getting that far.”

Partner with us

For DASCO, the two wins mark another major milestone in the company’s growth story.

From its beginnings as a family business, DASCO has grown into one of the borough’s largest construction employers while continuing to invest in its people, apprenticeships, local supply chain and community.

Scott added:

“These awards are a great moment, but they belong to the whole team.

“You don’t build a business like this on your own. We’ve got some brilliant people around us and we’re lucky to have clients, suppliers and partners who have grown with us too.

“We’ll enjoy this one for a bit, then it’s back to work.”
